Privacy Policy: Enhanced Screen Capture

Enhanced Screen Capture is a browser extension for taking screenshots, recording your screen, and annotating captures. It is built to work entirely on your device.

What the extension collects

          Nothing. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal or usage data. It
          has no analytics, telemetry, advertising or tracking code. It makes no network requests.
        

What stays on your device

Screenshots and recordings you take are stored in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) so they appear in the extension's History page. They never leave your device unless you choose to download, copy or share them yourself. Only the most recent captures are kept (50 by default, adjustable in Settings), and you can delete any or all of them at any time from the History page.
Annotations you add in the editor are stored locally with the capture.
Settings (for example your preferred file format) are stored with chrome.storage.sync. If you are signed in to Chrome with sync enabled, Chrome syncs these preferences between your own devices. They contain no personal data.

Page content

When you start a capture, the extension temporarily reads the page's layout (scroll size and positions of sticky or fixed elements) to stitch a full-page image. It also temporarily adjusts the page's styling so sticky headers don't repeat, then restores everything afterwards. Page content is not stored or transmitted, except as the image you asked for.

Microphone, tab audio and screen

The microphone, tab audio and screen are accessed only while you are recording, and only after you start a recording. Chrome shows its own indicators and prompts whenever these are in use. Audio and video go straight into the recording file on your device.

Children

The extension is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same address with a new "Last updated" date.
